So, we ask, where will your journey take you? **POSITION SUMMARY** **The Senior Director, Engineering & Sustainability is responsible for overseeing Engineering operations and drives sustainable efforts for all hotel brands across the Continent. The role functions as the strategic business leader of the area and continuously improves department, program, team, and job structures to ensure clear leadership accountabilities are in place. Works with direct reports and peers to develop and implement strategies and goals. Makes and executes the necessary decisions to keep team moving forward toward achievement of goals. Provides direction and assistance to other teams regarding projects. Thinks creatively and practically to develop, execute and implement new plans or programs. Sets goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance review process and holds staff accountable for performance goals.** **EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS** **Key Responsibilities:** **• Provides functional and business expertise plus a strategic perspective to develop quality services and talent to meet or exceed the needs and expectation of guests and provide a return on investment to the Owners and Marriott.** **• Execute engineering strategies, standards and actions to exceed guest expectations and deliver high quality engineering practices that result in increased market share.** **• Lead the execution of engineering responsibilities for the region: engineering operating strategy, facilities management (i.e., facility and plant maintenance, asset protection, landscaping, etc.) and guest satisfaction.** **• Provide leadership to the engineering function in the region by setting priorities aligned with the region and discipline goals. Ensure quality and consistency of engineering practices and facilitate rollouts of new initiatives related to key business priorities.** **• Identify service improvements, anticipate challenges, and create competitive breakthrough strategies for the region. Protect and strengthen Marriott's competitive advantage by advocating and supporting sound business and engineering decision-making.** **• Review engineering and property maintenance guest satisfaction results for the region to identify areas in need of improvement; reviews findings with appropriate property Engineers and assists in developing appropriate corrective action.** **• Build effective working relationships with internal (regional teams & corporate resources) and external groups (customers & partners). Develop working relationships with Leaders of Engineering in other regions to share innovations and maintain engineering and facilities consistency throughout the Brands.** **• Stay aware of market trends in engineering and serve as the market change agent for new initiatives for the region when appropriate. Provides functional and business expertise and strategic perspective to develop quality services and talent to meet or exceed the needs and expectation of guests and provide a return on investment to the Owners and Marriott.** **• Help facilitate in identifying high-caliber talent that makes a strong positive impact on the organization. Anticipate future talent needs based on business plans. Transfer functional knowledge and develop engineering skills of other discipline managers.** **• Ensures proper management of the asset including all mechanical, kitchen and laundry equipment, electrical, life and fire safety systems, and guestroom, public and common structural areas in accordance with each brand’s Standard Operating Procedures.** **• Makes recommendations for CAPEX funding of building projects, plant equipment, and renovations in accordance with brand business strategy.** **• Assists in the pre and post opening related engineering functions necessary to successfully open new properties.** **• Performs other reasonable duties as required for the position.** **Managing Projects and Priorities** **• Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work for self and direct reports.** **• Provides direction and assistance to other teams regarding projects.
