So, we ask, where will your journey take you? **JOB SUMMARY** The position of Senior Manager, Security Services and Design primarily assists Global Design with new and conversion property design with respect to safety and security company standards. The Security Services and Design function, part of Global Safety and Security (GS&S) Centralized Services, maintains a repository of approved safety products and vendors used by properties, negotiates pricing agreements and national/international contracts with vendors. The position provides technical specifications, property improvement plans and systems maintenance on security and safety related equipment. Security Services and Design supports the mission of GS&S in minimizing controllable losses and maintaining a consistent “Duty of Care” across the enterprise. **Specific Job Summary** • Implement Marriott’s system and design philosophies for all new build, conversions, renovations by incorporating GS&S requirements and incorporating design guidelines and threat condition components. • Complete property level inspections of new construction hotels to verify compliance with Marriott’s design guidelines and threat condition program. • Support GS&S Operations team during hotel pre-opening stage, up to and including ordering of specific supplies, countdown matrix and pre-opening kits. • Support, conduct and complete Property Improvement Plans (PIP) for conversion hotels pertaining to safety and security requirements. • Manage the research of GS&S product/service vendors and serve as a liaison between vendors and end users. • Work with Marriott’s Global Design group to maintain and update the Marriott International’s Global Safety and Security policies and standards. **Expected Contributions** • Perform complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. • Manages projects. Responds to and makes decisions on complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk. • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff. • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by: - identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes. - providing training and technical guidance to junior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution. - participating in setting department operating plans. - achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility. • Performs other duties as appropriate. **Expected Contributions** Vendor Approval, Liaison: Track the design of systems and facilities to maximize asset protection and guest and associate accident prevention. Conduct research into new and innovative systems and methods to improve design criteria. Manage the approved vendors list and the leveraging of the service and cost factors to benefit Marriott International. Global Design New Construction, Conversion and Renovation: Review plans for owned and managed Marriott International products to ensure Marriott International safety and security guidelines/standards are in place. Conduct Risk Assessments for owned and managed Marriott International. Conduct Risk Management audits for owned and managed Marriott International products. Conduct new construction property punches on safety and security specifications. Manage and maintain a cohesive relationship with the Global Design (GD) team to sustain an open line of communication. Keep up to date with liability factors/case law trends that may affect the need for design changes. Conduct research for new technology/ideas in the areas of safety and security regarding GD. Development and Update of Policies and Standards: Stay apprised of both internal and external case law and trends in the areas of hospitality liability to direct any updates to the Marriott International Global Safety and Security Guidelines and/or Marriott International S.O.Ps. Stay apprised of Marriott S.O.Ps to ensure they are consistent with Marriott International Policies/Standards. Work with the Marriott GD department to update and revise the Design Standards as needed. **Candidate Profile** Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows: • Experience in developing policies and procedures. • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings. • Knowledge of safety and security systems pertaining to the hospitality industry. • Superior communication skills – both written and verbal. • Effective time management skills. • Outstanding interpersonal skills including experience with: - Supervising others - Customer service - Effective presentation facilitation • Must have proven competency in computer operations. • Technical knowledge of loss prevention issues and hospitality liability. • ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification strongly preferred. Education and Experience • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience preferred. • Minimum of six years’ work experience in the security field with hospitality industry and/or security design knowledge. • Experience in reviewing architectural drawings and ability to recommend enhancements, implement requirements and identify synergies as it pertains to safety and security. • Knowledge of crisis management planning, fire protection, safety and security guidelines. • Effective conflict management & change management skills. • Legal knowledge related to industry issues (e.g., safety, licensing, disability discrimination) • General knowledge and understanding of government regulations and safety standards. • Knowledge of terrorist organizations and terrorist attack methods and mitigation measures. _Marriott International is an equal opportunity employer committed to hiring a diverse workforce and sustaining an inclusive culture.
